Catherine Mayes - Advocate
Catherine Mayes is the Plymouth County Program Coordinator for the
Asperger's Association of New
England. In that capacity she oversees social and recreational programs for teens with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Asperger Syndrome (AS), Nonverbal Learning Disorder (NLD)
and communication challenges. Catherine also coordinates AS focused educational programs for parents and educators in Plymouth
County.
Additionally, she is the Autism Project Advocate for Massachusetts Advocates for Children where she provides technical assistance to families with children with autism throughout the commonwealth. She is the mother of a 20 year
old person with high functioning ASD and has been advocating for families with Children with
Disabilities for over 15 years.
She has completed the Federation Parent Advocate Training and is one of 16 graduates of the STEP National Advanced Advocacy Program offered through the Federation for Children with Special
Needs.
